What NAIA means: Smaller colleges outside the NCAA, with their own eligibility centre and their own rules — scholarships are available, and coaches can talk to athletes earlier than NCAA staff can. Timelines run later, rosters turn over faster, and a good NAIA program can be a stronger playing opportunity than a seat at the end of a bigger bench.
